The 'History Tutor' is new. It's the first tutorial agency in the UK specialising in history tuition online. Because we're online we're not restricted to finding you a tutor in your local area. This means we can find you the best tutor wherever you are and wherever the tutor is.
All our tutors are history specialists. We recruit only experienced teachers and examiners. Our aim is to provide you with the best history tutoring your money can buy.
Charles Palmer, founder of the 'History Tutor', says the idea came about almost by accident after he received an email from a concerned mother.
'I am interested in online tutoring for my daughter. She got an A in one of her Russia papers but a C for Weimar (Germany) She will resit Weimar and do the Stalin's Russia paper in June. She seems to know the material but I suspect is not answering questions in the specific format required. There has been very little essay practice at school. I would be interested in getting help, perhaps the weekly setting of an essay to be marked with feedback? Also feedback on coursework before submission would be helpful. Could you contact us with info as to whether this is what you provide and also an idea of cost?'
Although tutor and student lived over 250 miles apart, the classes went ahead. Essays and source work were dispatched and returned by email. Tutorials took place using a free VOIP provider. All lessons were recorded by both Charles and the student . This had two important benefits. Firstly, it provided assurance for the parents. They could check the content of the lessons whenever they wanted. And secondly, it dramatically improved the student's understanding of the topics she was studying. She could review any lesson at any time and as many times as she needed.
All the downloads required to operate online tutoring can be found within this site and are available to 'History Tutor' parent and student members.
The tutoring ended in June. The student signed off with the following message....
'Thank you for taking the time to help me. The feedback you've given has definitely been useful and I'm feeling more confident about the exam now. I'll make sure to email you and tell you how it went.'

As the days before the A Level results were announced came and went, Charles wondered whether she would achieve the grades she needed. Two A's and a B would get her on the course she wanted but she was worried about her History. The answer came at 10.52 on a Thursday morning in late August....
Hi, it's me. I just wanted to let you know that I got a B in the Stalin exam and an A in my Irish coursework. With all of the modules, I got an A in history overall! So thank you for all of your help, it's paid off. I got 3 A's overall and I'll be going to (the university of her choice) in September :)
